Well Hello There…Vanessa

Meet Vanessa.

Three things you might not know about Vanessa (in her own words):

1. I was Valedictorian in my class for music school (Institute for the Arts)

2. I love to play hacky sack

3. In high school, I was in a beauty pageant in Dallas (only once. Ha!)

As mentioned in my first post, Vanessa is part of the reason I started this series. She is such a wonderful friend who is SO creative. She is a talented singer and an intern at my church. I feel so blessed to have her in my life. Vanessa inspires me in so many ways, and I could spend HOURS talking about this sweet friend. She has such a kind heart & passion for the Lord, that challenges me constantly. She lives her life boldly for Jesus and has such huge faith & trust. She is genuine, probably one of the most genuine people I know. I love that no matter whether she is serious or silly, she is always genuine. I never doubt what she says, and I can always trust that she is being honest with me. I L-O-V-E spending time with her and we always have a good time. We spend A LOT of time laughing together. If you don’t know her, you should.

Well Hello There…Us

We are Kelly & Matt, we make up Kelly C. Photography.

I thought we would kick off the series by telling you a little about ourselves.

Matt:

1. Authors who inspire me with prose (self-expression): William Faulkner; Jose Saramago

Authors who inspire me with metaphors (lenses of reality): Rainer Maria Rilke; Anne Sexton

Authors who inspire me with characters (understanding of humanity): Fyodor Dostoyevsky; Charles Dickens

2. Gotta admit, Anime and Manga are A. Maze. Ing.  And I don’t care how nerdy that makes me.

3. I love pig.  All forms of it.  I will eat most anything if it has pork, or bacon, or any other form of pig.  I’ll eat it.

Kelly:

1. I was a cheerleader for 11 years and was the co-captain of my college cheer squad my junior year.

2. I love fall. I love the smell of autumn air, the feel of leaves crunching below my feet, brisk air & wearing jackets. I wish that the entire year could be just like the months of September to December.

3. I hate pig. All forms of it. I will eat most anything, as long as it doesn’t have pork, or bacon, or any other form of pig.  I won’t eat it.

1. We have been married for almost 2 years (our anniversary is in 16 days!!).

2. We both L-O-V-E Coffee!!! And we enjoy finding new local coffee shops around town.

3. We are both night owls.  Mornings are painful and grouchy.

Get excited…Saturday brings the next “Well Hello There…” post

Walking in a holga wonderland part 2

I have SEVERAL, and I mean Several rolls of 120 film sitting around that I shot using my holga. I got one of them developed this past weekend and I thought I would share a few of the photos from it. I like them. This was my first round of color film with my holga and I think it turned out okay. I have SO many more rolls just waiting to be developed I think I will drop a few more off on Saturday. I have been busy shooting with my Ricoh and its been super fun getting to know this camera better. My husband and I are going to see Mutemath tonight at Stubb’s and I will hopefully have something to post here, even if its just iphonography. I am sorry I haven’t posted much faithful readers, I have a lot to share and I am excited to post more soon. Have a wonderful Friday night!

The Sterners

Matt’s sister Amy and her family (excluding her husband Stephen) were in town for the whole month of June visiting us and we certainly had a great time with them. While they were here I had the chance to do a family portrait session with them and I have stay, I had an awesome time and I love the way the photos came out. Here are some of my favorites.

Meet Daniel and Luke, they are the oldest two and they are pretty much like two peas in a pod, they love to get into trouble together:

Meet Paul, he just turned 1 years old and he is the happiest baby I have ever met:

Rise and Shine Bakery

Rise and Shine Bakery is like 2 miles from our apartment and I found it almost immediately after I moved in. I love their pumpkin bread and their egg and cheddar kolaches and they have some good coffee too. But the things I love most are the atmosphere of this quaint and funky bakery, and the fact that its so unexpected in a strip mall. I love how stylish and personal it is. Here are some photos I took awhile back when stopping in to pick up some surprise baked goods for the husabnd.

My birthday lunch

My birthday was over a month ago, but I have been too busy to edit the photos I took from the wonderful birthday lunch my husband had for me. It was quaint and sweet. Our friends, the Coopers  joined us at Matt’s Parent’s house for an indoor picnic. It was too hot to eat the food we grilled outside, so we set up inside. My husband made food I love and that he, well, hates. My Mom-inlaw Chris and I set the table. It was nice. Also, My birthday cake was DIVINE! It was an orange smith Island cake (yah know those 9 delicate and delicious layers that we enjoyed at our wedding). It was shipped from the eastern shore of Maryland all the way to Austin, Texas, for me, for my birthday (that’s why it looks less than the usual perfect).

It was a great birthday.

The Coopers Family Session

I did a family portrait session with my dear friends the Coopers this past spring and I wanted to save the images for the new blog. Well in all the business I forgot to post them. I am silly sometimes. I am sure you have seen some of these images in my portfolio and in my family pricing page or maybe even on my facebook page but I wanted to give them a post, because I just love them and the photos I captured of them.

Meet Shawn and Elisa:

Shawn is the student and Family pastor at my church SHCC. Elisa is his fabulous wife. Matt and I volunteer with the student ministry CRAVE at our church and we love it. Shawn and Elisa are such amazing leaders and they care so much for those students, its inspiring.

Meet their son, Layton:

He is kind of shy but definitely knows how to have fun!

Meet their daughter, London:

She is spunky and outgoing and she LOVES to dance.

They are a super fun family and it was such a joy to capture their love for each other!

Date night with Matt

I have been so bust recently with awesome things with church. Unfortunately that has meant that I have had so little time with my wonderful husband. So my husband met me at La Madeline last week at 9:30 pm after I had a meeting with the Crave Ladies. It was a wonderful little date. It felt kind of comforting to spend a quiet night with my husband, enjoying yummy food.
