Last weekend we had the pleasure of photographing the Sterner Family. We love them to death & are so glad to be related to them! They were in Texas visiting us for the Christmas Holiday & we were super excited when they wanted to do another family photo session. You might remember seeing them on the blog a little while back (The Sterners). Here is a small preview from their very fun and very cold session:

Merry Christmas!
This holiday season has been a happy whirlwind for us and we wanted to take time for to wish you all a very Happy Christmas! This magical season is so full of joy & wonder & we wanted to embrace that this year.

We hope you have a wonderfully fun and Merry Christmas!

A Happy Christmas Card!
Christmas is one of our favorite times of year. We love September through December, it is full of so much love & family & fun. We decided to do a photo Christmas cards this year, which is a first for us. Last year I hand made “collage” style cards & the year before we didn’t even do Christmas cards.

We think they turned out pretty cool! We spent a good amount of time designing different cards on different sites and decided we liked the grey chevron on Snapfish.
We thought we’d also give you a small peek into our Christmas home. I had a couple friends over to help decorate early on in December, and man was it fun! I think a new tradition may have begun.

Well Hello There…Lindsay
Meet Lindsay.

Three things you might not know about Lindsay (in her own words):
1. I have [physically] been through a basketball hoop.
2. I can detect the taste of artificial sweetener in most anything I consume, because I really do not like the taste/after taste.
3. I usually prefer to use plastic children’s plates over big ceramic plates.

There are many reasons why I love this gal, but I won’t go into all of them.
I got to know Lindsay over the past year during her internship at my church, SHCC. She is uber creative & also shares an interest in photography. She studied graphic arts in college & has done some very cool work. It seems we were destined to be friends. I am grateful for our friendship & the fact that she is constantly encouraging me in my creative endeavors & is always a willing model.

A huge part of what inspires me about Lindsay is how much FUN she is. Man, hanging out with her is a blast! Its been so great to get to know her this past year. I cherish my friendship with her & value her creativity. I also appreciate that she is able to understand all the things I miss about Maryland, & the very different culture in which I grew up because her hometown is not too too far from my own. Let’s just be honest, Texas and Maryland can be very different worlds at times, & it’s nice to have a friend who understands that.

I’m in the planning stages for a few creative projects & I am excited to hopefully collaborate with her. She has such a great eye for style & color & sees the world in such an interesting way. I’m so glad to know this wonderfully creative lady.
Vanessa & Jessica
A couple weeks ago we had the pleasure of photographing these beautiful, fun, spunky sisters. I don’t think I have seen so many fun faces & so much style wrapped up in a single session before. It was a ton of fun to trek around Austin with these ladies, & I can’t wait to show you this little preview!

The Yellitz Family
We had a fabulous time photographing the Yellitz family last Saturday. Let me just tell you, we had FUN! They were adventurous & oh so stylish. Michele worked hard to put together outfits for everyone, & to plan fun props & ideas; & man did it pay off! I love working with families that are up for trying pretty much anything, it adds a lot of fun & creativity to the session & it helps everyone feel more relaxed. Enjoy a small preview:

The Wilson Family

Well Hello There…Sterling & Lindsey
Meet Sterling & Lindsey.

They are getting married in the spring.Get ready to hear a little about this wonderful couple!
I am very excited to feature them as a part of the “Well Hello There…” Project. I asked them to each give me three interesting facts about the other person, & they got creative (which I love)!
Here’s what Lindsey had to say about Sterling:
“So here we go. Instead of just giving you any three things about him, I figured I’d give you three things the two of us have in common and three of the reasons I know God designed us for each other.

Nothing means more to her than when I turn off all distractions and turn my entire attention towards her. Whether it means I just sit there and listen to her tell me about her day or simply maintain eye contact with her, she knows that I love her when I show her that she is most important to me.
She doesn’t let any of my efforts to love her go unnoticed. Even if she misses it the first time, she alwayscomes back and shows her appreciation. Even when she’s frustrated with me… which I’m very grateful for.3. She’s the greatest teammate in the world.
She never lets me down (well, 99.9% of the time) and never leaves me hangin’. She alwayshas my back in tough situations. She hates being late and even hates it when I’m late, so I never have to worry about her punctuality. She backs me up if someone is bringing me down. She even makes the tough move of letting me know when I’ve wronged someone, and when I need to go back and make it right. She’s my soul mate.”

Well Hello There…Vintage Heart Coffee
Meet Vintage Heart Coffee.

This “Well Hello There…” post will be a little different then the others, mainly because its not about a person but a place. A WONDERFUL place. Maybe even my new favorite place. Only time will tell. Sit tight because this is one’s a little bit longer – I couldn’t choose just a few photos.

I’m including Vintage Heart Coffee in the Well Hello There… Project for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, it is such an inspiring space. I love the color choices & the attention to detail in the decor. It captures my heart & makes me dream of having a home that looks half as good. I could create an entire pin board of all the wonderful details I love at vintage heart. The warmness of the wood & how the tones tie into that of the tile on the floor. The balance of that warmth with my favorite color, grey. The small pops of color brought in by art work. Impeccable.
It’s not much of a secret that I love coffee. I should change that, I don’t love all coffee, I love good coffee. Being married to Matt has made me even more of a coffee snob then I was before. Something I love almost as much as good coffee is local businesses. It’s on my top 5 list for why I love Austin so much. It’s something that has made the move to Austin a lot easier for me. I feel like I could live in Austin 100 years & still never have been to all the cool local businesses.
Vintage heart brings those two things together in a wonderful way. Which brings me to the second reason: They are local & they are GOOD at what they do (which happens to be coffee, a major plus). This is something that challenges & inspires me in a huge way. Something few know about me is that one of my greatest desires in life is to do one or two things, & do them well. I have ADHD & so I can be all over the place. A conversation with me does not flow like the branches of a tree; rather, it moves like swinging on a vine through a forest. Focusing in, & dedicating myself & my attention to one thing is hard, but when I come across places like vintage heart, I can’t help but fall in love & feel inspired.
Thirdly, the people who work there are SUPER nice. Every time I go I feel so welcomed. I feel like they care about their customers & their business & it makes me want to stay awhile, & then come back, & then tell everyone I know (hence they are on my blog).
Feel free to check out their website, twitter & facebook.
